do you ship to the United States?
At this time aboutcheese.ca ships only to Canadian addresses.
Do I have to be home to receive my order?
Generally no. The cheeses are shipped in a thermal container giving 36-48 hours of stable shelf life at room temperature. Fed Ex has been instructed to leave the box at your door, no signature required. Two exceptions:1) we cannot deliver to post office boxes or to locked high-rise buildings with no attendant 2) if there is no apparently safe place to leave the box Fed Ex will not deliver - this is for your and our protection.
Can I track my shipment?
As soon as your order is shipped you will be notified by email that the order is in transit and giving you an order number. From that point onward, you can track your order's progress at the Fed Ex website, http://www.fedex.com/ca, using you order number. you will receive another email when the package has been successfully delivered.
When will I receive my order?
Orders are shipped once weekly, on Tuesday. The orders are shipped Fed Ex express, and you should receive your order on wednesday by end of day, 5pm for commercial addresses and up to 8pm for residential addresses. There are some remote locations which will require two days for delivery.
When is the weekly cut off for orders?
The last orders for weekly shipping will be accepted on mondays at 12 noon. Orders received after this time will be shipped the following Tuesday.
Do you make substitutions?
Occasionally, because of the fluctuating supply of artisan cheeses, we may need to make a substitution. Aboutcheese.ca reserves the right to make substitutions without notice with products of equal or greater value and quality if they are a part of a collection. If the product in question is an individual item, we will contact you, before making the substitution.
Is there gift wrapping?
About cheese.ca offers a gift box. It is a handsome, orange, heavyweight paper box. You purchase the box and we will pack it for you with the order.
Can I recycle the packaging?
The cardboard outer carton is recyclable. The inflatable inner insulation can be popped and deflated to greatly reduce its volume. The packing paper is recyclable. The cheese wrappers are not recyclable.
Does the order include shipping chages?
The listed price on the website is is the cost of the products. When you get to check-out shipping and applicable taxes will be added.
What currency is posted on the website.
All prices listed are in Canadian dollars.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Visa and Mastercard.
How long will the cheeses last? Generally three to four weeks, when kept in the refrigerator in their original wrappers.
How much cheese is in the collections?
There is gennerally approximately one kg of cheese - enough to serve 6-8 people very comfortably or enough for a couple for a month. For cut pieces of cheese we aim to be as accurate as possible, but there will be small variations in the weight from piece to piece.
Is there a reward for frequent shoppers?
There is. When your product purchases at aboutcheese.ca exceed $1500 in a calendar year, we will give you a cheese tasting party for 10 people for free! The party is a $450 value and will be held at our education centre in Toronto. The session will be led by our cheese experts and our sommelier and will include a tasting of five cheese and a pairing with wine. If you are not able to come to Toronto, we will ship you the supplies, instructions and tasting notes so that you can host your own session.
